Low-Cost Psychology Services in Fremantle & Midland, Western Australia
Ready to get started?
No GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan required. From $20 per session.
Cygnet's Low-Cost Postgraduate Clinic (LCPC) provides affordable, evidence-based psychological therapy to adults and adolescents across the Perth metropolitan area. Sessions are delivered by provisionally registered psychologists who are completing the final year of an accredited Master of Clinical Psychology or Master of Applied Psychology (Clinical) — supervised directly by the clinic's managing director, an Adjunct Associate Professor and registered clinical supervisor.
Individual Psychotherapy
One-on-one therapy sessions run for approximately 60 minutes and are available at two Perth locations: 109 Marine Terrace, Fremantle WA 6160, and Suite 33, 6 Keane Street, Midland WA 6056. Telehealth appointments may also be available on request.
Individual sessions cost $50 per session for employed adults, or $20 per session for Health Care Card holders and pensioners. There are no session limits — unlike the Medicare Better Access program, clients may attend as many sessions as clinically appropriate. A GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan are not required.
Our practitioners are trained in a broad range of evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), schema-informed therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and mindfulness-based interventions. Treatment is always tailored to the individual following thorough assessment and collaborative case formulation.
Cognitive & Psychological Assessment
The LCPC offers comprehensive cognitive assessments using the WAIS-IV (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale). Due to the high demand and the time required for assessment, referrals are accepted only where there is a valid clinical rationale.
A full cognitive assessment including written report is available for $450. A formal cognitive and adaptive behaviour assessment is available for $650 — approximately $2,500 below standard private rates. All assessments are supervised by the managing director and reviewed prior to report release.
Online Group Therapy Programs
Cygnet runs structured online group therapy programs for depression and emotional regulation skills. Groups are currently free for a limited time across a 10-week program. Groups are facilitated by postgraduate clinicians under clinical supervision and are an effective, affordable option for adults seeking evidence-based skills in a supported group environment.
Group therapy programs are delivered entirely online, allowing participants from anywhere in Western Australia to attend. Visit groups.cygnetclinic.com to register.
Conditions We Support
Our provisional psychologists work with adults, older adolescents, and neurodiverse individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. Presentations commonly seen at the LCPC include:
- Anxiety disorders — generalised anxiety, social anxiety, health anxiety, OCD-related conditions
- Mood disorders — depression, dysthymia, adjustment disorder
- Relationship and interpersonal difficulties, including couples therapy
- Emotional regulation challenges and distress tolerance
- Grief, loss, and life transitions
- Occupational stress and burnout
- Neurodiversity — assessment support and psychoeducation
- Trauma-informed support (moderate presentations)
Each referral is individually triaged by the supervising clinical psychologist. Cases that are assessed as too complex or involving significant risk will be referred to a senior Cygnet clinician or an appropriate external provider. This triage process ensures every client receives the right level of care.
Clinical Supervision & Quality Assurance
All LCPC clinicians receive intensive individual and group supervision from the clinic's managing director — Adjunct Associate Professor Brendon Dellar or Rachael Williams (Clinical Supervisor and Managing Director). Supervision sessions involve detailed case review, formulation refinement, and treatment planning to ensure the highest standard of care.
With client consent, sessions may be audio- or video-recorded for supervision purposes. Selected cases may be presented at peer supervision meetings attended by senior clinical psychologists, providing an additional layer of expert review. This supervisory model often means LCPC clients receive more intensive clinical attention than they would in standard private practice.
How to Access the LCPC
The LCPC accepts self-referrals and referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, school counsellors, and any other appropriate professional. No Mental Health Care Plan is required. The clinic runs in line with university semesters — typically February to June and July to November — with some availability outside these periods.
